After giving the Cannes film festival a miss, the UP government is now participating in the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) that began in Goa on Monday.
The state will be represented at IFFI by Awanish Awasthi, Principal Secretary, Information. Awasthi will be promoting the state’s film policy at the festival to attract film producers to UP at the week-long film festival.
UP had been awarded the National Award for being the Most Film Friendly State earlier this year in April. Filmmakers have been shooting in different parts of UP regularly with bigwigs like Rishi Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Rajkummar Rao and also Mohan Babu shooting in the state capital Lucknow.
While the previous government granted up to Rs 2 crore for a film shot in the state, it’s yet to be seen what the new government’s film policy has to offer to filmmakers.
